Richard Gibbons

Rev. Dr. Richard Gibbons is a native of Scotland and became Pastor/Head of Staff of the historic First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC in 2007. Richard holds joint honors in Ecclesiastical History and Systematic Theology from the University of Glasgow and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Highland Theological College in Inverness, Scotland. He is married to Ruth (40 years) and they have one son, Michael. Richard was the Chaplain of the Day for the U.S. Senate in 2018, chaired the “World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians” (Washington DC) in May 2017, and was the plenary speaker for Presbyterian pastors in Egypt in 2019 and 2020. He served for four years as Chair of ECO Denomination’s Theology Task Force. He has authored several children’s books, written a number of hymns, and for fun writes children’s nursery rhymes in Shakespearian prose. His book entitled Conspiracy Theory – When God Is Seemingly Against You – Psalm 139 was published by Christian Focus Publications in November 2021.
