Rev. Dr.

Jim Davis

Rev. Dr. Jim Davis is a professor who has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level, most recently at Fuller Theological Seminary in person on the Houston campus and online. His PhD is from the University of Nottingham where he studied with Dr. J.D.G. Dunn. He’s published commentaries on 1 and 2 Corinthians and written another book on Wisdom and Spirit in 1 Corinthians. His real joy is teaching and he loves to watch the “light bulb moments” happen for students he teaches. He’s taught a wide variety of courses on the gospels, Paul’s letters, and some of the General Epistles as well as New Testament Introduction and Greek. With a deep love for the church, its people and its mission, he’s served churches in PA, WA, CA, and TX over the years as a youth pastor, parish associate, associate pastor, and most recently as a pastor/head of staff in a large Presbyterian congregation in Houston. He was involved in helping ECO take shape as part of a group of tall steeple pastors and helped several colleagues and congregations transition from PC(USA) into ECO. His email talljimdavis@gmail.com reflects the fact that he is indeed tall, and yes he played basketball which he still loves to watch along with baseball and football. He enjoys reading novels and history as well as books on the NT. He lives in Seabeck, WA with his wife Carolyn, a retired RN and together they have 3 adult children, two daughters Hope, and Joy and a son Drew.
