Mentoring Church Context

What is the mission/vision of the church? How can an intern help the congregation to achieve these?
Our mission is to proclaim salvation through Jesus Christ alone, to encourage spiritual growth through Bible-based teaching, prayer and fellowship, to provide opportunities for mission and service, and to celebrate God in worship.

We are living to know Christ and to make Him known.
What is the make-up of the church and the surrounding community?
First Presbyterian currently has 143 covenant partners with an average of 110 in worship each Sunday. The church has grown steadily over the past 5 years, with lots of families and children.

Corpus Christi is on the lower Gulf Coast of Texas. The economy is primarily industrial, oil & gas, the Port of Corpus Christi ( major deep-water port), as well as a university and community college.

The church is near downtown and overlooks Corpus Christi Bay.
What are your top 2 strengths and growth areas as a church?
Our top strengths are in the areas of relationships and discipleship. Our growth needs are in the areas of serving and discipleship.
