Revelation & the Life of the Early Church
This course aims to provide an in-depth study of the book of Revelation. We will focus on its message to the first century Christ-followers and its exhortation to overcome in the midst of Roman imperial power. The course will also consider how Revelation’s message speaks to the church today, especially churches situated within a Western cultural context where questions of power, allegiance, nationalism, consumerism, and cultural accommodation remain significant. The goal of the course is to equip pastors and church leaders to understand the book of Revelation well enough that they may confidently teach the book of Revelation to their congregations and help their communities encounter the book of Revelation as a message of hope and an exhortation to faithful witness.
